About
Robert Urteaga is the President of Upward Solutions Public Affairs & Communications, where he directs numerous communications, advocacy, outreach and political campaigns throughout Southern California. In addition, Robert serves as Senior Associate for the Santa Maria Group where he leads advocacy and lobbying efforts for many clients including the Los Angeles Community College District, AECOM, and numerous development projects.
Previously, Robert was a Partner at Synergi Public Affairs & Communications, and a Senior Associate for Burnside & Associates, a nationally recognized Political Consulting Firm, specializing in sophisticated grass roots field organizing, community outreach services, campaign management, turnout programs, ground-based vote-by-mail programs and coalition building. During that time, he managed day-to-day activities for many of the firms’ clients and was responsible for developing and implementing community outreach strategies. Clients included The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Westfield’s, Disney, The California State Democratic Party, and various political campaigns and Statewide Propositions.
Robert has worked for Mayor Richard J. Riordan and Mayor James K. Hahn where he managed a citywide community program focused on improving public safety in vulnerable communities. In addition, he has worked for several Los Angeles City Council Members and worked for a national field consulting firm that specialized in sophisticated grassroots organizing.
Robert received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services in Los Angeles and is a former Montebello City Councilmember.
